(CD, Private, 2014)
Jizzy Pearl has been associated with the following major Hard Rock acts: LOVE/HATE, RATT, L.A. GUNS and QUIET RIOT. He formed LOVE/HATE in the late 80s and scored a best album award with “Blackout In The Red Room” while he was also the singer of L.A. GUNS in their “Shrinking Violet” CD and additionally fronted my beloved RATT from 2000 to 2006. He is currently standing behind the mic in QUIET RIOT and is preparing for an all brand new studio album with these veterans.
Unfortunately, his newest solo EP called “Crucified” is nothing to feel you missed if you let it slip. There’s a sleazy vibe allover the album but not in the party way, while there’s also a new Rock painting included along with a low tuned crawling Punk style. But not in a fast way... again. A ballad is included too (“I Don’t Want To Be Your Baby”) and the overall feeling is the one of a long gone awarding artist that’s trying to play as if life has left its scars on him hardly. Maybe that’s why I had trouble listening to this EP again and again in the first place...
Anyway, I’m expecting Jizzy to show his dynamics again with a new QUIET RIOT album and – till then – I advise you to stay away from “Crucified” except only if you’re a fanatic and want to have everything this anyway respected Irish-American vocalist has ever recorded.
