Roadfever - Wolf Pack

(CD, Avenue Of Allies, 2013)

ROADFEVER come from Switzerland and have already released a self-financed CD in 2009 entitled “Wheels Of Fire”, plus an independent DVD called “Live In Geneva”. They are fronted by a woman but do not – fortunately – play any melodramatic Euro Power/Symphonic Metal stuff...

ROADFEVER’s music has three legs; one is on the spit-it-out territory of bands like AC/DC and RHINO BUCKET, the other one lays on the spirit of legends like LYNYRD SKYNYRD and BLACKFOOT while the third one boasts a personal somehow melodic but darkened personal style. So, powerful Hard Rock with a dose of Southern Rock is the main dish here and I have to say that the band performs this amalgamation rather adequately. The voice of Stevie is quite nice, mature and with a sense of freedom. She sings like an eagle flying free and does not seem uncomfortable to cry out here and there if needed too. The rest of the musicians do their job very well also; the guitar leads are in particular quite impressive without too much fanfare but rather a straight-to-the-point attitude. Not to forget, the choir refrains (participation by Oliver Hartmann is credited here) give an extra color to the music while Mat Sinner sings a duet with Stevie in “Magic Sun”.

ROADFEVER is a nice band to have in your Hard Rock collection, no questions asked. They seem to be real fans on what they are doing and deliver an enticing album that can equally visit your car’s audio system for a nice ride in the sun or your home’s speakers for some good company with old friends.
