It's really cool that there are arrangements in smaller places. I'm not sure if Hässleholm has the potential to be a hot place for shows but Farozon is a very decent venue for concerts and the size makes at least semi-big bands fit in there.

Then, that it basically was the same line-up for ‘Metalzon’ as it was for ‘Metal In The Night’ a few months ago doesn't really matter. Especially, since I would gladly see the bands on that bill again. Well, CONFIRMED SICK was confirmed sick and had to cancel their appearance and there was no BLACK SABBATH tribute band wrapping up the night. FVASHM and Epic Heavy Metal it was though. First, WYSDOM GIVEN impressed the last time I saw them. What struck me the most was that their style sticks out from other bands in the same genre. They nurture the Swedish heritage of Epic Heavy Metal and Epic Doom in a good way. It's not far off to mention VENI DOMINE and the early days of MEMORY GARDEN when referring to WYSDOM GIVEN's music. The main difference this time when compared to last time I saw WYSDOM GIVEN play was that it felt more relaxed now which also reflected in the heavy groove. “Abandoned” and “Time Has Come” sounded fantastic. Also “Living Dead”, the up-tempo one, sounded much better this time, so everything worked out perfectly this time around.

It was still the second half of the set that was the best, “My Only Friend” sounded as dramatic as the title says. It has that nerve ARGUS delivered in “Pieces Of Your Smile”. Daniel Hedman have the same tone in his voice as Brian “Butch” Balich and kind of the same phrasing in his vocal lines. “Follow Me” was the one that stood out the most this time. I love the structure in the song. It's a little odd and the melancholy is there. “In A Time When Victory Is Dying” which ended the set here became a favorite last time already. I was a little disappointed when I didn't see it on the setlist before the show. But of course it was there, I can understand that the whole title wasn't spelled out... The complex to the chorus is still very catchy and sticks immediately.

So yes, the local scene is alive and sound fantastic. WYSDOM GIVEN did not disappoint this time either.

WYSDOM GIVEN setlist:

01. “Into The Night”
02. “Abandoned”
03. “Time Has Come”

05. “Bullies Pet”
06. “My Only Friend”

CRIER is normally fun to watch as they bring on the party mood. And since quite a few had shown up for this event which was a charity event for Cancer Research it was bound to be a great one. And they should have managed to gather some funds for that purpose at least.

An old-school track kicked off CRIER's set. Shout Out” holds a high standard even today, it's a cool and fun song which works really well live. And the crowd knew these songs which is fun to see. I mean, CRIER was new to me when I saw them at ‘Helgeå Festivalen’ so they don't twitch the nostalgia nerve for me. They were a part of the FVASHM (First Wave of Swedish Heavy Metal) there in the first half of the 80's. So apparently, for a whole bunch others they do bring back memories from the past.

Two more that went down really well were “So You Better Run and “Mental Fighter”, again old-school tracks. But I must say that I think CRIER's new material holds a high standard as well. Easy to sing-along to “Let There Be sound” is a very good live-song and that one sounded very good. Kudos are in order for the drummer Ralph Rydén whose energy reached all the way out on the floor. It's rare that I note the drummer in particular but he really stole the show this night. One who didn't steal the show though... I noticed a lamp in stage left corner, like a living-room floor lamp. It actually took a while to see keyboard player Fredrik Persson there in the darkest corner of the stage (I actually had seen him the last time too). I doubt it would have mattered what he did back there, it was virtually pitch black and no matter what he did hardly anything could be seen from the floor.

Two more very good songs came to wrap up the night, “Rock N' Roll Forever” followed by the bands (local) hit “Bad Booze”. The reaction to the last of the two was great and people started dancing even. It's cool when people do what they feel like. And it was fun to hang out at Farozon this night, it was fun to watch the bands. The atmosphere was very good, drunken, but nice. More events like this one is needed, that's for sure.

CRIER setlist:

01. “Shout Out”
02. “Innocent Victim
03. “Running In The Night”
04. “Heat Me Up
05. “Bad Reputation”
06. “So You Better Run
07. “Mental Fighter
08. “Let There Be Sound
09. “Fantasy World”
10. “Rock N' Roll Forever”
11. “Bad Booze
12. “Shout Out” (reprise)
